Tra i pezzi della vetrina spicca per il disegno il boccale n. 3 che reca l’insegna dell’ordine francescano. Si tratta di una terracotta del XVII secolo, ingobbiata, dipinta ed invetriata dai colori azzurro, giallo e verde manganese.

Il boccale, con beccuccio ed ansa, presenta al centro della forma globulare due braccia di diversa cromia, le quali si incrociano a racchiudere una croce terminante in tre code allungate e le lettere SF. Le due braccia vogliono essere quelle di Cristo in croce e di San Francesco con le stigmate, tradizionali simbolo dell’ordine religioso francescano. Sulla superficie invetriata e crettata, i colori scivolano e perdono di intensità, solo il manganese segna i contorni. L’ansa a nastro è attaccata senza rinforzo, il retro si presenta tutto ingobbiato.

Among the pieces in the display case, mug no. 3 stands out for its design, bearing the insignia of the Franciscan order. It is a 17th-century terracotta piece, engobed, painted and glazed in blue, yellow and manganese green.

The jug, with a spout and handle, has two arms of different colours in the centre of its globular shape, which cross to enclose a cross ending in three elongated tails and the letters SF. The two arms are meant to be those of Christ on the cross and St Francis with the stigmata, traditional symbols of the Franciscan religious order. On the glazed and cracked surface, the colours slide and lose their intensity, with only the manganese marking the contours. The ribbon handle is attached without reinforcement, and the back is completely engobed.
