Costituisce decisamente un’eccezione questo calice (con la relativa patena) in avorio anziché in metallo dorato. Pregevolissimo anche il fusto, con angeli e figure femminili, tra le quali le tre a tutto tondo, raffiguranti le virtù teologali, Fede Speranza e Carità. Lo stile lo fa supporre di età neoclassica (cioè da collocare tra la fine del Settecento e l’inizio del secolo successivo).

Chalice and paten

This chalice (with its accompanying paten) is definitely an exception, being made of ivory rather than gilded metal. The stem is also highly valuable, decorated with angels and female figures, including three in the round representing the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity. The style suggests it dates from the Neoclassical period (i.e. between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the following century).
