Museum Regulations

Art. 1.

  1. The museum is open throughout the calendar year, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon and from 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Considering the time required for closing, the ticket office closes at 17.00. As a rule, the museum is closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays. Other annual closing days are: 25 December, Christmas of Our Lord, 1 January and Resurrection Sunday.

  1. The persons responsible for the opening and closing of the museum are by right, the curator, and other persons appointed for this purpose by the president of Mirabilia ODV. They hold and keep a copy of the keys for access to the museum, the strictly personal secret codes which allow the intrusion alarm system to be switched on and off, and the passwords necessary to control the video surveillance system.

Art. 2.

The President of Mirabilia ODV may allow the museum to be opened, for groups who make a reservation, for the setting up or visiting of special exhibitions, or for other exceptional activities, at times and days not provided for in Art. 1, when the conditions of the service and the availability of staff allow it.

Art. 3

At the special area at the entrance to the museum, the user must be provided with a regular ticket, or other entitlement allowing them to visit the collections on display.

Article 4

  1. Types of admission.

1) full admission: provides for the issue of the ticket after payment of the full fee;

2) reduced admission: provides for the issue of a ticket after payment of at least 20% less than the full fee, granted to the following categories of users: under 18s, over 65s, groups of at least 15 people;

3) special reduced price: for members of associations, organisations or institutions that have signed special agreements with the Mirabilia ODV Association to facilitate their members;

4) free of charge: no ticket is required and is granted to children under 14 years of age, one accompanying person per group, teachers accompanying school groups, tourist guides authorised by the Province of Mantua, accompanying persons of disabled users, if they require accompaniment, priests and religious, members of Mirabilia ODV who have paid their annual fee.

  1. The President of Mirabilia ODV determines the cost of admission tickets according to the types described in the previous paragraph.

Art. 5

With regard to art. 4 §1 of these regulations, in order to safeguard the works and to guarantee a better use of the areas, groups, even accompanied, must proceed to the entrance of the individual exhibition areas, divided into units of a maximum of 30 people.

Art. 6

In addition to the provisions of art. 4 of these regulations, the President of Mirabilia ODV, on the basis of agreements and understandings, can authorise other cultural organisations and museum institutions to issue cumulative tickets, which allow users to enter and visit the museum collections. In this case, he may deviate from the provisions of Art. 1 §1 of these regulations concerning the days and hours of opening to the public.

Article 7

The Mirabilia ODV Association has equipped the Museum with an audioguide system that can be hired by users. The rental price is set by the President of Mirabilia ODV taking into consideration the costs of running the service. The user, while using the devices, deposits his identity document at the ticket office, which will be returned to him when he returns the device.

Art. 8

Inside the museum premises it is forbidden to:

  1. Entering with animals (with the exception of guide-dogs for the blind);
  2. smoking;
  3. consuming food and drink
  4. reproducing the environments and works on display, either with video cameras, cameras and other multimedia technological devices, excluding personal use.

The person in charge of supervising compliance with these prohibitions is the conservator, assisted by the staff and volunteers authorised to operate by the President of Mirabilia ODV.

Article 9

  1. Pursuant to art. 11 of the Museum Statute, recalled in the preamble, it is Mirabilia's responsibility to establish regulations regarding the granting of image rights, therefore as an exception to art. 8 §4, it is recognised that researchers, university students and users in general may request specific authorisation for the photo-reproduction and publication of images of works conserved at the museum. This request is subject to the conditions set out in the attached form, which is an integral part of these regulations. The granting of the aforementioned authorisation is the responsibility of the President of Mirabilia ODV.
  2. Mirabilia ODV grants that the diocesan Ordinary, the Bishop's Delegate for the Pastoral Care of Culture as well as the Director of the museum are authorised by right to photo-reproduce and publish images of the works conserved at the museum, in derogation of the conditions envisaged for users.
  3. Mirabilia ODV, as the owner of the image rights, may create and sell on the market, gadgets, postcards, photographs, audiovisual products, even in the form of digital certificates (NFT - not fungible token) that assign to the eventual purchasers the right to enjoy the contents related to the museum's works of art on a purely private basis. Such products, including those in the form of digital certificates (NFT), do not grant purchasers any real right of ownership.

Art. 10

According to the terms defined in the management contract referred to in the preamble, the Mirabilia ODV Association, with the approval of the museum director, may organise or host, at the request of third parties, events such as exhibitions, market-exhibitions, temporary exhibitions and shows, as well as events such as private assemblies, cultural meetings, conventions, seminars, conferences and book presentations in the museum and in the accessory spaces designated for this purpose. The spaces dedicated to such activities. insofar as they are compatible, are the rooms for temporary exhibitions on the main floor and ground floor, the 'Paolo Pozzo' conference room, the museum library and the cloister with the garden.

Art. 11

The Mirabilia ODV Board of Directors, with the exception of the provisions of the management agreement mentioned in the preamble, provides for the appointment of all those professional figures necessary to comply with the regulations in force concerning the recognition of museums and museum collections. The professional figures can be filled by voluntary association staff, if they have the necessary qualifications.

Art. 12

The people in charge according to art. 1 §2 of the Rules and Regulations and the other volunteers, authorised by the President of Mirabilia ODV to work at the museum, are responsible for the ticket office, the bookshop, the audioguide hire and the user reception. They also collaborate in the custody of the works of art, in the control of the museum's premises and appurtenances, as well as in the vigilance of the people who enter it.

Article 13

  1. The diocesan museum library is open to the public, by appointment, on the days and during the opening hours of the museum.
  2. Scholars are granted access to consult the works preserved there.
  3. Photocopying and/or photocopying of library material is permitted, for a fee and in accordance with current copyright regulations.
  4. Lending of the preserved works is not permitted.
  5. In the event of a request for consultation and/or photocopying of antique (i.e. printed before 1831) or particularly valuable library material, the President of Mirabilia ODV or, on his behalf, the persons appointed by him, reserve the right to respond after assessing the conservation condition of the work.

Article 14

These regulations are valid until 31 December 2026. Any amendments to the regulations must be approved by the Mirabilia ODV Association Members' Meeting.
