Tra i pezzi esposti merita un approfondimento il boccale n. 6 in mezzamaiolica nei toni blu e celeste. Si tratta di una terracotta ingobbiata, dipinta ed invetriata, databile tra il XVI e il XVII secolo, proveniente dalla collezione Pesenti.

Sia per la sua forma assai panciuta e schiacciata, sia per la pittura direttamente sulla terracotta ingobbiata, detta “mezzamaiolica”, l’esemplare appartiene al momento finale della produzione mantovana rinascimentale e presenta una decorazione particolare, riscontrata in altri casi, a riquadri divisi con punto centrale; nei ritagli delle losanghe, brevi tocchi e linee curve o parallele che si ripetono anche sull’ansa a nastro fissata alla parete con il pollice. Segni paralleli diagonali dipinti sull’ansa con incavo per presa del ceramista. Un boccale simile è presente anche nella collezione di Palazzo D’Arco a Mantova.

Among the pieces on display, jug no. 6 in blue and light blue mezzamaiolica deserves special attention. It is a painted and glazed terracotta piece dating back to between the 16th and 17th centuries, from the Pesenti collection.

Both for its very rounded and flattened shape and for the painting directly on the engobed terracotta, known as “mezzamaiolica”, this piece belongs to the final period of Renaissance production in Mantua and features a particular decoration, found in other cases, with divided panels with a central point; in the cut-outs of the lozenges, short strokes and curved or parallel lines that are also repeated on the ribbon handle attached to the wall with the thumb. Parallel diagonal marks painted on the handle with a recess for the potter's grip. A similar jug is also present in the Palazzo D'Arco collection in Mantua.
