Pur considerata “uno dei più alti raggiungimenti dell’arte di Bazzani” (N. Ivanoff), la tela è obiettivamente di faticosa lettura. “L’aspetto quasi monocromo sembra in larga misura imputabile allo stato di conservazione, ovvero alla perdita di velature e finiture, certo in parte dovuto anche alla tecnica artistica di Bazzani, che negli ultimi anni sembra usare una materia vieppiù scarna e magra”

Although considered ‘one of the highest achievements of Bazzani's art’ (N. Ivanoff), the canvas is objectively difficult to read. ‘The almost monochrome appearance seems to be largely attributable to the state of preservation, i.e. the loss of glazing and finish, which is certainly also due in part to Bazzani's artistic technique, which in recent years seems to have used an increasingly sparse and thin material’.
