Dalla chiesa parrocchiale di Pieve di Coriano

Nel 1935 l’opera si trovava presso la chiesa di Santa Maria a Pieve di Coriano, ma tuttavia non è chiaro se quella fosse l’originaria ubicazione, dato che la chiesa subì tra la fine degli anni Venti e l’inizio degli anni Trenta importanti interventi di restauro.
La corona di stelle identifica l’immagine come quella della Vergine Maria nel privilegio della sua immacolata concezione. Oltre che per l’ennesima prova della felice scioltezza dei modi bazzaniani, il dipinto si segnala per la ricca cornice intagliata in noce, di certo ancora l’originale.

From the parish church of Pieve di Coriano

In 1935, the work was in the church of Santa Maria in Pieve di Coriano, but it is not clear if that was the original location, as the church underwent major restoration work in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

The crown of stars identifies the image as that of the Virgin Mary in the privilege of her immaculate conception. In addition to yet more evidence of the happy fluency of Bazzani's manner, the painting is notable for its richly carved walnut frame, certainly still the original.
